Salam!
Day 5 - Heading to Turangi, south of lake Taupo.
It is just a small town.
Stop by the lake shore on the way to Turangi.
Stone and sand at the lake shore is a bit different from the beach sand. The sand is blackish and the stone is white and big but light maybe because of it is originated from volcanic larva. FIY Lake Taupo is created from volcanic activities.

Seriously nothing much there in Turangi but since it is already halfway to Tongariro, so we have decided to go to Whakapapa Village, Tongariro National Park (Mt. Ruapehu)
What is so special about this national park?
Besides it is the shooting location for Lot Of The Ring (LOTR).
There are 2 shooting side here, first at the top of the mountain where The Wall is located and the 2nd one is at the lower of the mountain where the gollum bathing and swimming at a small river.
Unfortunately we cannot reached both of the location due to unfavourable weather (rain and fog).

Heading to the top of the mountain where the LOTR shooting took place but the thick fog stop us from moving further up.

If anyone coming near to Tongariro, this is a MUST! Especially if the weather is clear, the view will be superb. Masha Allah.
