Aleppo/Halab View


  • Aleppo in english or Halab in arabic, is an ancient city at the northern Syria.
  • One of the oldest inhabited cities of the world.
  • Was known as Khalpe or Khalibon.
  • According to Yaqut Hamavi some narrate that 'Halab' means 'give away milk' as Ibrahim A.S. gave milk and to the travellers and the ingredients. The poor used to gather here and saying "Halab, Halab."
  • There is claimed that a part of Yahya A.S. is buried in the Halab Castle.
  • The city was in controlled by Hittite (800 B.C.) before fell to Assyrians and the Persian then to Greek (333B.C.) 
  • Finally fell to Iyad bin Ghanm Fihri under the command of Khalid bin Walid (Muslim).
