Travel Tips to Egypt 🇪🇬

A) Pre-Departure

> Egypt require either negative pcr or fully vaccine proof only to enter. However airline may has different rule. Please check your airline rule.

> Get your Visa. Only 10 countries does not require visa. Visa can be obtained from embassy at your country or on arrival for USD20. For Cairo, it is near to Immigration counter in the airport. Malaysian can get visa free entry for up to 14 days.

> Plan your trip

> There is only few country does not require visa. There do need it. Some country even need polio vaccination. Check with the nearest embassy.

B) Departure

> Upon landing at Terminal 2 Cairo Airport, there will be counter to check you vaccine document or negative pcr.

> Get on arrival visa for USD20

> Go to immigration together with your arrival card.

> Collect your bag

> Change money to Egyptian Pound (EGP). The exchange rate is the same as in the city. So just change in the airport. Most of money changer is in the arrival hall before custom. Only one available at the outside i.e. Misr Banque

> Can get sim card after custom. I choose Voda as it is one of the widest coverage at that time. There is only 3 operators you can choose.

> Airport taxi to Cairo city centre will cost you around EGP600. But if you use Uber it is only EGP200, but need to walk further away from the arrival lobby. Most of the time they will pick you up at Parking lot waiting area.

C) During the Journey

> Train for tourist (sleeper) between Cairo to/from Luxor and Aswan is slightly more expensive than flight. So my suggestion to use flight. Only use train for experience. One way is sufficient.  Train is not really comfortable to compare with the price you need to pay.

> Sleeper Train here always late. So always be prepared. Plan your next activity well. My Train from Luxor to Cairo should arrive at 6am but only arrive at 10.30am

> Domestic flight. Be extra careful with the timing change. Besides Egypt Air, the other airline always change flight schedule to/from Aswan and Luxor.

> Cairo serve as transportation hub. All train and flight go through Cairo before proceed to other destination.

> Be careful for scammer. They will target tourist by helping or force to help you then ask for money. Even in toilet. Just say no and walk away.
